Massive Blog Update
This will be a giant catch up post on the life of Nick. I have grossly neglected this blog for about 90 days and am finally making a return to the blogosphere. Of course, my returning to the blogosphere is none other than to continue to document random aspects of the internet with an occasional blip about me.
Speaking of me, if you haven’t heard already, I finally did graduate with my Doctorate of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering (PhD EE)! I moved from the Orlando area out to Rockledge (small town in Florida south of Cocoa and north of Melbourne/Palm Bay) this past June and started my new job!
I have hosted my dissertation manuscript, the dissertation defense power point slides and a recording of the dissertation defense on my website <here>. I hope to one day further compress the defense recordings and host them on youtube. I’m currently looking into opensource video compression software to do this. It has been an amazing journey and I am really happy to have accomplished this massive project (defending and graduating) and absolutely love my new job!
About several weeks ago, my childhood friend Ryan visited with his wife Danielle and he DM-ed (dungeon mastered) a game of dungeons and dragons for Amanda (barbarian), Danielle (warrior), Nichole (warlock), Mike (monk), Frank (rogue), Sam (wizard), and me (cleric). Our group meets about once every two months to play. It has a nice casual pace and Ryan has really done an amazing job setting up an awesome game. The mat you’ll see below is one Ryan uses to sketch out various dungeons and maps for us throughout our campaign.
Sasha hasn’t quite decided on what character she’ll be playing in our game…
Sasha is now approaching 1 year old and finally had to get spaded. She was pretty unhappy with the cone but it only lasted for a week. I of course had to document her awesomeness in sporting her fashionable cone.
Work keeps me pretty busy, but I have gotten a chance in my after hours to dabble with playing some Magic the Gathering (card game), hosting an occasional party
, and doing tons of reading (mostly technical). I’ll follow with some more updates pretty soon about some good internet trinkets I’ve uncovered during my 90 day hiatus.

I’m glad you are enjoying your new job! I miss being able to have our dinners fit for a king on the back porch or our nightly walks. I’m glad things are going so well, you deserve it! Great update Nick.

If anyone finds my hair, please plaster it to my forehead. The glare is blinding. Good pics otherwise. Sasha’s stylin’.
